Our Vision

The idea behind this strategic goal: As members of St. John Lutheran Church, we resolve to regularly and frequently gather together around Word and Sacrament in worship and Bible study, as our Lord commands us in Scripture and the 3rd Commandment. We will also encourage our membership gather together, not just in worship but in other congregational activities, so that they all may receive encouragement from their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ as they encourage, rebuke, correct, and train us through the Scriptures.

What this strategic goal entails:

  • We will strive for excellence in every aspect of our worship services: preaching, liturgical services, and musical offerings.
  • We will strive for excellence in our educational opportunities outside of worship, such as Adult Bible Class, Sunday School, Teen Bible Class, and any other opportunities that may arise.
  • We will strive for excellence in the upkeep and improvement of our building and grounds to properly reflect our love and gratitude to God for what he has done for our souls and our eternity.
  • We will plan regular opportunities for our membership to gather together outside of the corporate worship service in order to find encouragement from their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.Grow

The idea behind this strategic goal: As we gather around Word and Sacrament, we resolve to use Word and Sacrament to move and grow our members from spiritual infancy into spiritual maturity.

What this strategic goal entails:

  • We will teach our membership that we do not gather just for the sake of gathering, or because the church is a social club. We gather for the sake of growing in our faith.
  • We will explain to our membership the scriptural basis and backing to grow in our faith not only in worship, but in personal and public study of the Scriptures.
  • We will stress that this growth is applicable to the entire membership, young and old alike. For this reason, we will take a more family focus approach to spiritual growth rather than separate efforts on adults, teens, and children.
  • We will encourage families within our membership who are not regular Bible Study attendees to consciously set aside time to continually grow in their faith in Jesus as their Savior. That time includes the Bible study opportunities our congregation offers, as well as setting aside time to be in the Word of God as individuals and as a family.
  • We will encourage our families to make use of Christian education offered at our WELS elementary schools, as well as Lakeside Lutheran High School and Luther Preparatory School
  • This spiritual growth will reflect itself in the lives of our members as they become more spiritually mature, which in turn will lead them to glorify God through their lives of service to him on a day-to-day basis, as well as in their lives of service to God in the church, in the home, and in the community.

The idea behind this strategic goal: As we gather around and grow through Word and Sacrament, we cannot help but go and share the reason for the eternal hope that we have.

What this strategic goal entails:

  • We will train and educate our membership that sharing Jesus and the gospel is not the sole responsibility of the pastor or an evangelism committee; it is the personal responsibility of every member of our congregation. If you are a Christian, you are a witness.
  • We will educate members about their personal responsibility to witness and train them to witness in their day-to-day lives.
  • We will heavily promote and encourage a FRAN (Friends, Relatives, Associates, and Neighbors) outreach & evangelism program.
  • We will schedule outreach events throughout the year and encourage our membership to invite their FRAN’s to these events.
  • Through our monetary offerings as a part of WELS, we will help support mission work both locally and worldwide.

Lord willing, through this ministry process, the Lord will bring new souls into his kingdom. If he should, our goal will be to take them through the process of gathering, growing, and going.
